Fat accumulation or positioning can greatly impact the appearance of the face and neck. Too much fat can make the face look chubby or hide the definition of the face, whereas too little fat can create a gaunt or older appearance. Facial liposculpture is a technique used to remove small amounts of fat under the skin to shape and contour the face, available through Dr. Rousso at our Manhattan clinic.
Facial liposculpture is comparable to body liposuction on a smaller scale. This facial cosmetic procedure is performed using a small incision and liposuction tools to extract fat from under the skin in the face and neck area. Dr. Rousso places the tiny incisions in areas that are inconspicuous, often under the chin, inside the mouth or behind the ears, hiding any visible scar. The procedure is outpatient and has a quick recovery time in comparison to other types of cosmetic surgeries, often used to address the following issues:
- Double-chin
- Full or “chipmunk” cheeks
- Heavy jowls
- Lack of definition in the cheekbones
Strategically removing a small amount of fat can sculpt the face to the desired shape, offering excellent results for those unhappy with excess volume in the face and neck.
Fat Transfers with Liposculpture
Often a patient may have too much fat in one area (like under the chin) but not enough in the cheeks or under the eyes. Facial liposculpture can be combined with a fat transfer, moving unwanted fat from one area and inserting it in another. Fat transfers use your own fat that is removed and purified to add volume to the temples, cheeks or eye troughs to give you a more youthful, vibrant appearance.
